A team of paranormal investigators claim to have recorded a confirmed ghost sighting during a stakeout at a ‘haunted’ castle in Tipperary.

Paranormal Supernatural Investigations Ireland (PSII) attended Redwood Castle in Lorrha on November 23, bringing specialised equipment designed to detect paranormal activity in the vicinity.

The equipment was “very active” during the investigation, with three “entities” being detected at the same time, along with “disembodied voices”.

PSII said it could confirm that Redwood Castle is haunted following its investigation, having captured an image of what it claims to be a female spirit in front of a window.

“We decided to take pictures at this location as our equipment was alerting us to high electromagnetic energy in the area,” said Richard Morrison of PSII. “This usually is a clear indicator that a spirit (ghost) is trying to manifest itself for it to be seen.

“We feel that the castle has multiple energies and one of them we feel is a female. This picture has drawn our attention because around this area our equipment was being very active, not to mention some of us were feeling that there was a presence also in that area.”

Redwood Castle was built around 1210 by the Anglo-Norman De Cougan family. Ownership passed to the O’Kennedy clan in 1350, and significant extensions were added to the structure.

It was damaged during the Cromwellian invasion in 1649 and lay in ruins until 1972, when it began a process of restoration.

The chapel inside the castle was the main focus of the paranormal investigation, and Mr Morrison said their equipment “became very active” in that location, “especially the SLS camera, which picked up three entities at once, which was very unusual”.

He said the team detected answers to questions they were asking the entities, and their audio recorders also picked up “disembodied voices”.

Since sharing images from Redwood Castle on social media, Mr Morrison said many people have also remarked on the apparent presence of a female figure in photographs.
