to haunted bridges , Texas is no stranger to the paranormal. If you’re lured into places with supernatural hotspots and the mystery of the unknown, then this haunted day trip in Texas is right up your alley. abandoned hospitals This day trip takes us to El Paso to investigate a historic cemetery and a fascinating restaurant, and both are rumored to be haunted.
Concordia Cemetery is a historic cemetery in El Paso that was first used as early as 1856.
The 52-acre cemetery holds roughly 60,000 graves and is broken up into different sections including an area for Buffalo Soldiers, Freemasons, Mormons, and even an unmarked grave area for infants that died during the 1918 influenza pandemic. It’s also the only place in Texas to have a Chinese cemetery, many of whom came to Texas to work on railroads.
As you wander through the cemetery, you might get the feeling that you’re being watched.
There have been several paranormal occurrences here, which have prompted several paranormal investigating teams to come to see for themselves. The cemetery was even featured on an episode of Ghost Adventures in 2016.
The cemetery is known for being the final resting place of some of Texas’ most infamous gunslingers, like John Wesley Hardin.
Hardin was an Old West outlaw that had many run-ins with the law and was known to have killed as many as 30 people in his life before being shot in 1895.
Many believe Hardin is one of the ghosts that lurk around the cemetery.
People often report the sounds of horseback riding and faint gunfire when no one is around.
Could this be Hardin, stuck in some weird time loop? We may never know, but one of the more haunting sounds you may hear could just stick with you for life, and that’s the sound of children’s laughter. There are dozens and dozens of unmarked children’s graves at this cemetery, and many think those ghostly, disembodied sounds that resemble children playing are the spirits of the children who died so young.
After the cemetery, venture over to Monteleone’s Ristorante, one of the most unique Italian restaurants you’ll ever visit.
We know, from the exterior, it doesn’t exactly give off the strongest Italian vibes. Just wait.
The atmosphere may not seem like a place you’d find quality Italian cuisine, but the menu sure does.
Hearty plates of pasta, lasagna, and pizza are just a few of the tasty treats you’ll find here.
Since the restaurant opened about 20 years ago, there have been so many paranormal experiences, they’ve had to call in the experts.
The building is over 100 years old and it’s been its fair share of businesses over the century, including a spiritualist church.
They embrace the haunted history, though.
When the ghostly encounters got so intense that a construction worker refused to be alone in the building, psychic mediums were called in. It was determined that there were four spirits here and that the building itself was a bit of a portal for spirits to pass through. One spirit, Albert, tends to not cause much trouble and may just close a door or turn on a light. Thomas, on the other hand, was an angry spirit known to throw glasses and wasn’t very nice.
During the medium’s investigation, the space was cleansed of Thomas’ energy and since then, they haven’t had any bad energies come through.
So while you may feel the presence of someone nearby, or your fork mysteriously finds itself in a new position on your table, you probably won’t run into an evil spirit. Just a playful ghost named Albert!
