Spirits have been detected at the Olde Colonial Courthouse in Barnstable Village, home of Tales of Cape Cod.

Learn more, if you dare, at 7 p.m. tonight, when Derek Bartlett, founder of the Cape and Islands Paranormal Society (CAIPRS), presents a talk titled, The Dangers of the Paranormal: A Cape Cod Haunting. This is a multi-media presentation, and audience participation is encouraged.

Bartlett has been looking for answers to questions beginning in his early childhood, when he learned local legends and stories of New England shipwrecks and ghosts.

Since forming CAPIRS in 2001, he has not only found a dedicated team who seek the same answers, but he’s also discovered more questions as to how and why paranormal events occur.

Bartlett believes in a pragmatic, scientific approach to ghost hunting. He uses both technical equipment and intensive historical research in his casework. In fact, CAIPRS is involved in cases that span from New England to New Orleans and beyond. The organization is based in West Barnstable.

Bartlett is also the founder of Cape Cod’s Haunted & History Tour Company. He has conducted over 200 investigations across the United States, contributed to numerous radio and television productions, and lectured at numerous colleges and universities.

Tonight’s lecture is not for the faint of heart! Join Bartlett as he discusses his trials and tribulations as a ghost hunter. He will discuss how he got involved in this unique occupation and his years of experience in the field of paranormal investigation. He’ll also make you think twice about going to a “haunted” location by sharing personal stories of things that have happened to him.

Admission is $10 for non-members; $5 for members. Cash, check or credit card accepted. Parking is available on the street, at Sturgis Library, at the Barnstable House, or at St. Mary’s Church. Become a member and save on future programs at www.talesofcapecod.org.
