“A House on the Bayou,” the first straight-to-service movie in a new deal between Blumhouse and Epix, has found its three lead stars.

Paul Schneider (“Tales from the Loop”), Angela Sarafyan (“Westworld”), and Jacob Lofland (“Maze Runner”) will lead the cast on the project, which has already begun production in New Orleans.

Alex McAulay (‘Don’t Tell a Soul”) serves as writer and director on the film, which follows a troubled couple (Schneider and Sarafyan) who take a vacation to an isolated house in the Louisiana bayou to reconnect as a family. Their teenage daughter will be played by the young star of Marvel’s “The Eternals,” Lia McHugh. When unexpected visitors arrive, their facade of family unity starts to unravel, as terrifying secrets come to light.

Additional cast includes Lofland in a key role, as well as Doug Van Liew (“Ida Red”) and Lauren Richards (“Doom Patrol”) in supporting roles. The film is set to premiere on Epix in late 2021.

Announced in March, the Blumhouse-Epix deal calls on the successful horror label to develop and produce eight genre movies exclusively for the network. Jason Blum, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold are executive producing “House on the Bayou” for Blumhouse with Mary-Margaret Kunze.

Schneider is represented by Finley Management and CAA. Sarafyan is represented by Management 360, Innovative and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman. Lofland is represented by Management 360 and ICM Partners. Van Liew is represented by Magna Talent Agency, and Richards is represented by People Store.

Blumhouse has produced over 150 movies and television series with theatrical grosses amounting to over $4.8 billion. Greatest theatrical hits include franchises like “Halloween,” “Paranormal Activity” and “The Purge.” The TV unit has anthology series like “Welcome to the Blumhouse” at Amazon Studios and “Into the Dark” at Hulu. They also work in mainstream prestige drama, with series including “The Good Lord Bird” and “The Loudest Voice.”
